So I saw the informercial this morning, it looks really good! But I was wondering why it was so cheap ($30) for the trial period. So I looked on their website and now I see the actual system costs a total of $230 (29.95 initially (for the "trial period" and then an additional $199.95) which seems a bit much...but might not be so bad if it actually works. My real question is has anyone tried this and tried returning it? I had an issue with sheer cover makeup when I tried returning it after I canceled, so I was wondering if anyone has had this experience yet.

I ordered the Luminess Air system last week. it sounded good to try it for $29.95 so I called. When the Rep answered she took my name, address, credit card information and then resumed telling me about the product. By the time the 20 something minutes went by. It was $29.95 plus $29.95 for shipping then $199 something once the 30 days was up.Then every month after that you are auto enrolled in the $29.95 for the coverup. I was flustered cause she kept trying to sell me on more stuff and the upgrade and all I wanted to do was try it and the shipping cost really made me mad. I tried to cancel at that point and she told me she couldn’t do that. She had already run my card. I wanted to talk to a manager and she came back with I’d be happy to know they dropped the shipping charge to $16.50. Still irritated but she seemed to not want to give up I just took the thing.
I’m afraid if it doesn’t work how do I get it back or stop the auto shipping because her sell on the phone was such a problem.
I really hope this is going to be worth it!! Because getting out of it might be difficult.

Hi Denise,
I ran into the same problem too and like you I am worried about what will happen next, ie how much and how long is this really going to cost me and what if the product isn’t right for me? I am going to try calling Sandra instead of guessing about it and I hope you do/did the same.

I ordered my luminess air system online and I opted NOT to be a member in this “Club” where they send you merchandise every month for a fee. But i have to say that I was not too pleased with the over all customer service I received after spending a pretty penny on their system. I paid for express shipping (On top of the already costly regular shipping fee) because I was so excited to get it and try it out. Well, I ordered it last Sunday 1/13/08 and the express shipping disclaimer said I would receive it in 3-5 business days…here we are 6 business days out (not counting MLK day) and my box is STILL sitting in a trailer in the Luminess parking lot waiting for UPS to come pick it up. So much for “Express”. I was told that Luminess made changes to their packaging because customers were receiving their systems broken or banged up so that is what is taking so long. Well i must add that I demanded to speak to someone about this and a manager (Susan) assisted me and refunded my $13.25 for express shipping. That was a nice gesture but I would still like to have the system ASAP. I cannot wait to try it out. I will post again once I finally receive it to let you all know what my experience was like.

Looking forward to see what you think of the system Debbie…if you have a good exp I’ll be purchasing it too, thx.

I am extremely unhappy with the whole process of ordering and finding information about luminess air. First of all, i couldnt find contact info for their customer service on the site .After doing an internet search i came across this thread where i got the number off. I called about the status of my shipment which i place Jan.26 and only received one email about it since. i was told that the website was misleading and that i wont recieve my package til Feb. 9,2008 after i paid for express shipping. They told me the site’s claim for express shipping for 3-5 was wrong and that it takes 72 hrs for them to recieve ur online order.they offered to refund my shipping if it doesnt arrive on the 9th but I am at the point where i am ready to cancel my order.I ordered under the pretense that I will have it for a very important photoshoot that i have on Feb 2,2008. Now I have to spend even more money to make up for this loss. I thought the point of express shipping is to receive your product immediately. They really need to update their site because there was no real need for me to pay express shipping if it was going to take about 2 weeks to receive.

This is a scary message about ordering the items. I did not receive any message that my item has been sent out to me, I also order express shipment. I have tried to email them twice, there is no answer. I asked to drop the monthly membership fee. I have 3 others friend who interested to order, they lost their interest due to the poor service and now the proof of all of your experience. I will not be interested to order this item and dealing with a poor business people and not professional. I will cancel my items period. Thanks for posting the honest experience.

Like all of you, I had to do a web search for their customer service. I’m so glad I found you all. What I wanted to know if anyone has actually tried the product?
Also, I have oily skin, will the oil affect the product? Finally, why does the customer have to pay to ensure proper delivery? I thought the shipper did that.
February 8th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
I ordered this product. It took about two weeks for delivery. I didn’t pay for express ship. I love it! You have to go easy on the trottle or too much product will come out.You can’t press it all the way down. You also have to keep the spray moving quickly across your face. I find cleaning it a breeze. I mix 6 drops of F6 and 2 of F4 and spray. Then I add two drops of the illuminator and spray. Two drops of the blush and spray. I smooth the blush out a bit with a sponge to blend.I haven’t used the bronzer I received yet. I don’t clean it in between products. When I’m done I add a bit of water in the cup swirl it around and pour it out then I add a little more water in the cup and spray it through. It clears quickly. I finish with a cool mist of water on my face. Total time… 5 minutes. The bottles are tiny but the product is very thin so a little goes along way.I have oily combo skin and it leaves my face feeling moist but not oily.
My only complaint is the lack of product information and the website that isn’t in the least bit interactive. I called customer service and they were really friendly and helpful in answering my questions. The website is being worked on and will be fully functional. They have a catalog about to be published with the full product line.In addition to the makeup, illuminators, blushes and bronzers they will have eye shadow, brow, tanners and hair highlighters.I think it would be in their best interest if they would convey more information about what they will offer on their website and in the package.

I have heard of many problems with Luminess so i went online to do some research and i came across a company called Dinair Airbrush Makeup. I called them and they were super nice. They have been around for over 25 years and they created the concept of airbrush makeup home kits. They are located in Ca and they said that you can call, go online or even go in person to order you makeup.
I LOVE the makeup. it covers so well and it doesn’t look like im wearing makeup. I really couldn’t be more pleased. The webiste is www.airbrushmakeup.com. I hope this can help you guys…=)
February 14th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
I just wanted to add a few comments. I just tried my Luminess today and it was very easy. I have very oily skin and it went on very smooth and did not leave me shiny. I will be interested to see how it wears after a full day but so far after 5 hours it still looks great. The blush is a little scary and bold but the foundation is wonderful.
I would like to see the ability to order specific foundation colors on the website or the ability to order anything for that matter but I hear it is “under construction”. I believe that the product is worth the trail ….but an FYI put your mascara on after your foundation, otherwise the airbrush tends to spray a light dust of foundation on your lashes……

I am annoyed with this company. I ordered the product in November. I was mistakenly double billed and double shipped. The unopened kit was returned 2 months ago. Despite a call to customer service over a week ago (waited 20 minutes before speaking to a live person), and another one yesterday, my $300 has STILL not been refunded, nor the interest that has been accumulating since mid-November. Additionally, the unit I kept sprays continually despite the lever’s forward/off position. I was asked by customer service to take the hand unit apart piece by piece and then put it back together again. This system is a bit high maintenance for me; I only use it on the weekends, so I was surprised that there was a malfunction like this. I’m a busy person (as we all are) and the effort and time that I have had to put forth to correct an error that Luminess Air made is unacceptable. Based purely on my customer service experience, I would not recommend doing business with this company.
February 22nd, 2008 at 10:41 pm
I ordered Luminess on line, so I didn’t have to deal w/ an operator. I currently am not enrolled in the monthly club (I think, I’ll have to confirm). The box arrived just fine. Maybe I am a make up queen, but I am thinking that it takes alot to cover my skin. Perhaps w/ time it will less. It does seem to stay on. My frustration is how do you order more, change your color (unfortunately I order tan and need light) Would I order it again? probably. Given time will I upgrade, probably. Short of them opening up the ordering, I will most likely order make up from another company. I give it a thumbs up. I don’t want a 7lb compressor in my lugage….
March 3rd, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Hi. I got my product about a month ago and though I love it, it seems to take a lot of foundation to cover my face…about 10 drops. I work 10 hr day and the makeup does stay on just fine. I have gotten good service thus far; as for the saleman, I just told him what I want and told him to not go further:) LOL It worked. Problem I have is this: today I got an email stating:
=====================================
This is a confirmation of an online transaction placed with LUMINESS AIR.
The transaction totaled $29.95 and will be processed to your account.
Order Number : ***********
Approval Code : *******
=====================================
This email is misleading…and scared me because I DIDN’T do any online ordering… until I read one of the post that said following month order is @ $29.95. They really need to be exact in their transaction emails. You would think that they are more responsible than this and from other transaction that I have read about here.
March 18th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT buy from this company. The product is ok but stops working every now and then. The big problem was opting to pay month by month. BIG mistake. I didn’t get charged for a month, and the times they did charge it was at random times. Then when this , march came around they charged me for the month they missed plus the current month plus the month of april..I called them and complaned and they apologized and said their was nothing they could do about it. I was upset. I called my bank and told them I didn’t authorize the transaction so they reveresed my money back to my account. Horrible customer service the lady on the other line kept getting smart with me. I was fed up. To much hassle for a dismal product. DEF not worth the buy.
March 22nd, 2008 at 12:48 am
OK, so I am a little worried…lol. I just ordered this system. I previously went online and found mixed opinions on it. I figured I would try it out. Lucky for me I guess, the customer service rep I had was great. She gave me all the support numbers right off. I did experience some of the pushiness of trying to get you to say yes and move on, but each time I would stop her and have her say it again slowly so I could write it down. That way I was very clear on what I was being charged and why. I did enroll in the monthly program which I think I am going to go ahead and cancel before I even get the machine. I am hopeful that it works. I also have oily skin and can’t seep to find anything that I really like and that stays on. It takes a little more than most to cover my skin so, I do have a question for current user: Do you find that the make up rubs off easily if you brush against someone or hug them? As for my opinion, I will let you know in 3-7 business days ?? I too got the express shipment.
March 26th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
I’m the one that commented first on this site. Ok since I ordered the machine at the end of November. I ran out of make up for about 11/2 months. I am on the auto ship. So Feb 2,2008 I noticed on my bank account $29.95 taken out of my account so I ASSUMED I would be getting my make up any day. I didn’t get anything until this week March 24th and since then another $29.95 has been taken out of my account. I’m at my wits end when I call cause the rep on the other end is not making sense to me on why they have billed me twice and only one shipment has come in. Oh but when I was out for that month and a half I could buy another bottle for $25. I thought the lady was insane. Here I’ve put $60.00 now into makeup and one shipment and you only get the 4 makeup colors. You DO NOT get blush or the bronzer. I’m not sure what to do. I’m so flustered. I would NEVER spend that much money in just 2 months on makeup. This deal is not good. I would not recommended it. Yes I do like how it goes on but I’m sure there is a better option out there. So I’ll will see what they say tomorrow about that next shipment. Another 20- 30 mins on hold to talk to someone that doesn’t not know what they are talking about.
March 27th, 2008 at 5:17 am
OMG!!! I was looking at my bank account at 6:15am and they took another $29.95 out of my account March 26th 2008. This is going to be a nightmare……IF ANYONE IS LOOKING AT THIS SITE PLEASE DON’T ORDER FROM THEM. I will post again and let you all know how it goes talking to a rep today.
March 27th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Denise,
I would be very clear with them that if the problem is not resolved or cancelled to your satisfaction, that you are informing them that there will be a formal complaint letter written to the Attorney General’s Office. Talk to a manager also. You shouldn’t have to be upset with them, usually the thought of that will give you an edge. Anytime a complaint goes in, it causes and investigation into their company and a permanent mark on their record. Keep us posted.
I just got an email that mine was shipped so, hopefully I will get it soon. I think I am going to go ahead and cancel the auto-ship though, it seems to be nothing more than a problem.
March 27th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
I’ve considered buying this product, but I been reading these comments and been discouraged by the bad rep of the customer service. I think the best way is to order on the phone, because the website isn’t updated. If i just be firm and let them know I don’t want ANYTHING else and I’m not going to be happy when i find a charge of $30 randomly to my account, and get insurance for it, i’m covered and don’t really have to worry about lousy customer service affecting my purchase?
April 1st, 2008 at 3:46 am
I’m also a sucker to the “express shipping scam”
still waiting…been 2 weeks since I ordered and now I am calling…but the lines are busy.
April 10th, 2008 at 8:12 am
Hi.
I bought this unit off of the tv infomercial and it is Horrible and sad to say but the customer service, or rather the lack of it really sucks!!
I was not given an option out of also signing up for the monthly auto-ship and the thought of this disturbs me as I have been on the phone this morning trying to get customer service to answer the phone for over 30 min. this time, and earlier this morning by the time customer service did pick up the line went dead… I do smell a rat..
Anyway, I am a professional makeup artist and was wanting to start using this at trade shows to show how well it works. After trying it at home and at the home show I am very dissappointed with the quality of this $ 300 product! I read the manual and have used these type machines before but this one literally was messy in many ways - even after cleaning it out. Plus my face was not even, it looked like someone had painted a coat of paint that looks like an “orange peel” finish to my skin which looked horrible on me. And yes, I selected light application and sprayed at least 6 inches away from my face in a continuous cir cular pattern. This unit and the customer service sucks! Don’t buy it!
April 10th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
OMG i can not get in touch with any one from this luminess i bought it for 14 95 and my credit card got charged another 56 dollars!! i never approved this nor did the woman on the phone (she called me!) tell me about another charge! She said after thje 1495 that was it thats all i wud have to pay! i am so pissed i keep callin this bs 1877 number and cant talk to a real person i am so pisssed if ne one can help me my email is bellababy910@excite.com … i notified my bank and they are doing a fraud report and i am reporting them to the bbb, this is bull shit im shoked with this please let me know thanks tre
April 11th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
I am surprised at everything I have just read. I ordered the pro kit on 4/6/08 and received it on 4/10/08. I watched the DVDs (2) and then tried it that same day. I am very pleased with the system although I have only had it one day so far. It is easy to use and compact. It should be great to travel with. I does seem from the above that the company is lacking in communication. I never received the confirmation email that the website stated I would.
April 12th, 2008 at 12:50 am
Anyone that buys a airbrush system for home use / personal use be warned!!! You are spraying foundation to your face and no matter how skilled you are or feel you are there is nothing like someone to do it for you. A professional makeup artist only uses this type of method for when they apply makeup to “others” not themselves, they can’t get an even finish since they too can not see their entire face and every inch of skin.
The reason this is now on the market is because so many women have wanted a professional to do airbrushing and just don’t have the money to pay for a makeup artist and or feel its “better” than what they are using now. To be blunt- airbrushing takes longer to apply than using a foundation sponge or foundation brush. The makeup artist uses at least 3 - 4 layers before even deciding if the skin looks clean and dewy. Its not only messy (you need a hair cape or towel around your clothing when you do this) but it doesn’t look natural in real life. Its best used on tv, film and photoshoots because when your working on any type of film we need a heavier coverage period.
My advice is if you purchase any airbrushing system is to contact a really great makeup artist and ask them to give you lessons, you may need a couple of lessons to really “get” it. The honest truth is - us makeup artists don’t even use it on ourselves because its not natural looking, takes forever to get a flawless look even on models and celebs and we still need to Blend a ton before we can even get to bronzer or blush etc… Remember, professionals use different methods for good reasons… a everyday person is best of seeing a makeup artist and learning what works for them.
Good luck to all and I hope you choose wisely when purchasing any product that looks good but doesn’t nessarily work in the real world.
April 23rd, 2008 at 2:50 pm
DO NOT BUY THIS AIR BRUSH PRODUCT. IT’S CRAP AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A NIGHTMARE. THEY BASCIALLY STOLE MONEY FROM ME.
April 24th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
I have to say “I love this product!” I have had it 2 weeks now and it is so easy and the results are beautiful! The makeup lasts all day too.
You should take everything thing you read with a grain of salt. Some of us will have great experiences and some obviously have not.
I recieved the kit fast as well as some other items I ordered after the initial order. It really is the best makeup I have ever used. You need to experiment a little to see what works best for you.
Good Luck!
April 27th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
I’m not gonna say the airbrush system sux but I will say it isn’t worth the crap you get from the company they have charged my credit card more then said they would. I never agreed to be a part of the stupid club and didnt even know I was until all a sudden one day I get more foundation in the mail I checked my credit card and sure enough I got billed for it plus I was charged 3 other amounts and still have yet to find out what those are for. I called and cancelled the membership in expectation that it would clear up these wierd charges but im still being charged twice a month for God only knows what.
April 28th, 2008 at 11:41 am
I liked the makeup it was everything else that was awful. Friday I finally got them to cancel my Autoship. By the way the Autoship is $29.95 they charge one month for 2 bottles then another $29.95 for another two bottles then they ship the 4 little bottles together. That is $60 on all four bottles. That is Crazy!! Had they explained that too me in the first place I would have never signed up for that. Now I’m stuck with colors I will NEVER use. She said I could just buy the bottle color I wanted but I said HECK NO. I will take a loss and just try to put some other watery type make up in the machine. If it doesn’t work then I’ll use it for something else.
April 29th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
I just wanted to add to the luminessair….I purchased it online w/express shipping and IT WAS FAST AND CONVENIENT…Customer Service was EXCELLENT <–just like any other job, you will always have good people and bad people! This airbrush machine was GREAT! I have used bareminerals and sheer cover for a couple yrs now and this airbrush is fast and convenient…there were no brush hairs on my black shirt (since I’m in the military) and no makeup powder that I have to blow away all the time….I can apply this w/out having to worry that anything will get on my black shirt. The makeup looks so natural and I started breaking out recently so brushes touching my face wasn’t helping any but this machine works so well and very fast w/out me having to touch my face….the first time i used it I looked like a clown due to the blush but after the third try it was PERFECT! All you need is 8 drops of foundation (layer at a time), 1 drop of foundation and 1 drop of blush (very natural), and 1-2 drops of bronzer and highlight your forehead, right above your blush and just below your eyes where your high cheekbones are and your chin! When I get outta the shower I sweat alot so turning on the airbrush machine and letting that air hit your face will cool you down and while your spraying around your face it cools you down at the same time as to where mineral makeup you have to keep fanning yourself or turn down the AC or the chalky feeling of applying w/a brush while it’s still moist. It’s more convenient for me because I’m always in a rush! You just have to keep trying and trying until it comes natural…we’ve been using our hands to physically apply makeup so we know where we want it and how much to apply…it’s like baby steps and after a yr anyone can be a pro, it’s all new. Think about the first time you had spent putting on makeup and you weren’t exactly good but become better as the years go on? Same as this! If airbrush was the only thing we can purchase in the beginning, I’m pretty sure there will be alot of people who are great at it….face it, there are some who don’t know how to blend and apply now and some that do (no offense to anyone) especially if you’re a fast learner or very very good at applying makeup as I am…I can take store bought makeup and make anyone look glamourous =) I been playing w/makeup since age 9 and started wearing it at 11 and now I’m 25 so I’ve had plenty of years and now thinking of becoming a makeup artist….now as for the 29.95 a month for 2 foundations…if you don’t call and tell them the shipping intervals then they will keep mailing them to you and charging you. It’s automatic in their system to place you on a 2-4 weeks shipping interval…so if it takes you 2-3 months to use up 2 bottles then you need to call them ASAP and let them know that you want to change the shipping intervals otherwise they’ll charge you! They were great w/me and even shipped me 3-4 colors that I asked for at no charge because I’m in between medium and tan. Everyone puts on makeup a different way and certain makeup is not for everyone. I can actually put makeup better on me than a pro…MAC eyeshadow is great but I wanted to start using DINAIR eyeshadow w/luminess…they’re both waterbased so I’m not sure if it’s compatible w/luminess air but if anyone knows please e-mail me at kimschelling@yahoo.com I’d appreciate it. Also if you want to ask questions before purchasing the luminess feel free because that is alot of money to be spent and most people don’t have that kind of money or feel it is a waste of money but I spend like water so just feel free to ask….the one thing that got me was pay $29 for 30 days <–they charge you shipping and handling and add other fees as well to this so my total when I ordered it came out to nearly $100….PLUS 4 monthly payments of $64….that’s nearly $400 in total….but after using it for a day I really felt it was worth it! I highly suggest if you have oily skin you might want to purchase Dinair because they have a powder to spray on for oily skin before you place your makeup (unless you want to mix dinair makeup w/luminess air like I’m about to LOL) people w/dry skin works really well because it is dewy after you sweat and work in heat because after work my face looks shiny and it’s kind of oily and I rubbed my face alot all day and the makeup is still on and looks good =) <–my mineral makeup would’ve came off.
good luck to you all! The ones that have trouble or bad experience I’m very sorry and hopefully it will work out.
April 29th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
I was just about to push the confirm my order button, then I wanted to check something about the pro kit without using my browser’s back button. A google search of luminess led me here, to your comments about this product. Looks like I won’t be buying it after all! Going to Dinair next, thanks for the heads up!
May 3rd, 2008 at 9:56 am
I am so happy that I decided to do some research about this product. I am currently watching the informercial. I will NEVER this product. Thanks for the heads up!!!

This has been a total nightmare for me. I have had my kit 30 days with no dvd. I called and ordered a new dvd which I haven’t received. Finally I tried to call from my cell phone and explain what was going on and a rep gave me a hard time. I passed the phone to my mother because I almost got in an accident. finally I got a supervisor who was worse then the rep and she told me my dvd had been delivered to my mail box and I didn’t need it anyway. She also would not give my mother the RA number whatever that is to return the kit, but said I had until today to get. They are closed. Well i tired the kit with no dvd instructions and i look terrible and i made an awful mess. Also my card is still being charged for something that I didn’t even attempt to try until today. I hope I can return this without any problems. also I will probably end up having to do a chargeback to my credit card. to get a refund.
Again about NIGHTMARE
May 7th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
BOTTOM LINE: THEY SUCK, nasty attitude respresentatives it costs $50.00 for shipment to you and if you have to send it back you have to pay to send it back they don’t even have free return. I spoke to 2 supervsors : one named Stacey extt: 2020 which was really nasty cut me off every chance and told me that her supervisor doesn’t have time to speak to customers and would not tell me the owners name. She told me she didn’t want to talk to me and she was putting the phone down while I was talking. Repeatedly asked me “Are you thru talking?” I told her “no and that because your company lied to me you are going to listen.” It doesn’t work like that you lie to me then get on the phone and constatntly cut me off and expect for me to be nice to you. You are getting the results of your actions. The second one I called back and asked for the name of the owener and she told me that she would not release any information without my account #. What that has to do with anything I don’t know. That is public information This was Susan S. at ext: 250, who says that she was the manager. She actually hung the phone up on me.I beleive it was Stacey lieing.I am not thru with them yet they will make this right or my next move is the News station.I could not belive that they were so unprofessional. They are truely a rip off. If you like the product good if not you have paid $60.00 total just to receive and send back.Personally I wouldn’t reccomend them to my enemy. But I’m not worried they’ll keep it up and shut themselves down. And for good I hope.

Sandra, the customer service rep for Luminess Air is apparently not familiar with the concept of being truthful and she obviously has no idea what the meaning of the term “customer service” means. Customer satisfaction is at the bottom of their list and customer service is virtually non-existant! My wife bought the system about a month ago and at first loved it. Then the problems started. The botttles they sell you for 30 bucks are tiny, they leak and last no time, the system clogs quite often and worse of all is their “customer diservice”. She has called several times and has yet to have her problems resolved. They put you on hold for up to 30 min. at a time, try to convince you that no problem exists other than your stupidity and then hang up on you! My wife is sending hers’ back (Lord only knows how long it will take to get her refund) and is buying the Laurel system. Our advice : DON’T BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP! YOU WILL GET SCREWED!

I also ordered express service and 5 business days after not receiving a confirmation email, I called Customer service to see the status of my order. After being on hold for 20 minutes, I was told the order was put into shipping and would go out in another 7-10 business days. I asked to speak to a Supervisor and was told that they would tell me the same information. I insisted and got another Indian person, Melanie, who was rude and told me that the extra mediaum makeup I had ordered with my professional machine was backordered and they just got it in so the order would be placed for shipment. When I complained that I had paid for Express shipment, she just blew me off and told me that I would receive it as soon as possible.
Darn it……I guess the next thing is to write to BBB. I opted out of the monthly shipments, we’ll see if I get charged anyway.

I bought this product - don’t do it.
It took a long time to receive even with “rush” service.
No one in customer service is any help, even when you don’t get the items listed on your packing list. I wish I’d known others sold this product. I’m unjoining the club (if they can understand English enough to cancel it). The product is ok but the applicator they shipped me doesn’t work correctly. Don’t order from this company. Customer service is a sad joke.

I have the Luminess Air Pro and I love it. The coverage is amazing. I am a perfect foundation F3. I have some dark patches of sun damage and I have some red spots that traditional makeup did not cover withour making it look like I was wearing a mask. When I first got the product I had some problems with coverage and I called. I called on a Thursdays and got right through. I had read so many negative things I asked for a manager and they put me through to Susan. She said she had similar dark patches and told me how she handled them. I felt like I had made a friend. She also advised me to call back with any problems and told me there is a professional make up artist named Marc on staff at ext 228 and if her tips didn’t do the trick he was amazing and would be glad to help help me. I put her suggestions to use and I think I look great. My advice is to try this product. It’s better than it looks and there are always negative Nellies out there. You have to be willing to open yourself up and try new things. I know I must grow old but I refuse to be old. I’m fighting old age tooth and toenail. I’m nearly 60 but I don’t look it or act it. I got carded at TGI Friday’s last Saturday. I asked why and they said they had to card everyone under 40. My husband thought it was funny but he is also proud of how I look. Needless to say, the waitress got a great tip.

Don’t buy this junk. After waiting for a month for delivery, parts were missing. I should have known after all the begging for upgrades like shipping and such that this was another rip off. DONT ORDER THIS JUNK!
June 5th, 2008 at 7:21 am
Well, I was a “Negative Nellie”…and I pouted for 12 days before my Express shipment arrived. Packed very nicely. Everything works properly. Lots of little bottles, of which you will probably only use 2 or 3. Foundation takes about 8-10 drops so am anxious to see how long the little bottles last. It doesn’t take away 58 year old wrinkles, but then it took alot of years to get them there. all in all, I’d say it is a success. Think they just need to spruce up their Customer Service repore a little.

I have been a MAC fanatic for about 4 years, but decided I would try out the Luminess Air system, because I loved that airbrush look I got when I modeled….I probably won’t be achieving that look with this product.
Shipping was actually very quick and I didn’t upgrade to Express….I watched the DVD and got to work. The only major downfall I have with this right now is it seems to me that the airbrush stylus sprays without pulling back on the trigger….I mean, even when there is only water in it, it sprays out with no help from me. So the way they ask to clean it isn’t going to work out for me. The water basically explodes all over me even if there is only two drops in it.
My skin seems to be a bit healthier, dare I say, since using it, but that can also be because the make-up is water-based. I’m not down with paying $29.95 for that tiny bottle, so I’ll be using my MAC water-based foundations with it. They say it voids the warranty, but I’m not sending it back so it really doesn’t matter.
Good luck to everyone else who is having customer service issues…remember if it doesn’t wor out for you, just do what I do…sell it on Ebay!
June 9th, 2008 at 11:18 am
Well since April 28th 2008 when I cancled my Autoship. They refunded me $59.95 that they took out of my account and then the very next day took another $29.95 out.I’m still waiting on my refund from the company for the Canceled Autoship. I’ve called and emailed and faxed since April 29th. I’m not sure if they will ever refund the money so the last time I talked to someone which was Heather I said can I at least get a bottle of makeup. They said sure for the inconvienece and will still send my refund as soon as accounting looks at it. We will see. If it truely happens.

Ladies– Thank you Thank you!! I order products on line all the time and for the most part am very satisfied. But I HAVE had my nightmares. I make it a practice now to ALWAYS check consumer websites for real feedback from consumers. If anyone is out there reading this - TRUST these real consumers!! I was just about to order…then thought…nope…better check. I will NOT order from this vendor, now. Thank you so much for sharing your experieces - so much appreciated! helen

I ordered this product after much consideration since its so expensive. For the past 5 years I’ve used bare minerals and swore I would never use anything else. But when I saw the infomercail for this I decided to buy one.
I ordered online and found the process to be pretty easy. You have to be careful or they will automatically enroll you in the monthly shipments of makeup. I choose not to do that.
I did notice that they never sent me an email confirming my order. I had to call customer service and ask if my order had gone through. The lady I talked to was pleasent and confirmed my order for me pretty quick.
I ordered the express shipping and it arrived in about 4 business days. Not too bad.
Now….as far as the product it self goes I’m still undecided. I have only tried putting it on 3 times. I tried it twice last night when it arrived and once this morning before work.
Last night I had the wrong color and I think I put too much on and held the airbrush too close to my face because my face felt tacky when I was finished. My husband told me I looked pretty at dinner though , and he didn’t know I had tried new makeup.
I tried it again after dinner and tried holding the airbrush farther away from my face. It felt better to the touch, but I’m still not sure the coverage is enough.
This morning before work I tried it again and it feels okay to the touch, but I don’t think it covers my imperfections as well as advertised. It seems that you have to have pretty good skin in the first place for this product to look good on you.
The coverage does look natural, but it seems to take alot of makeup, about 14 drops, for me to come close to covering. I may try a concealer tomorrow before I apply the product because the only thing I have noticed that it doesn’t cover well is a few blemishes.
I’m going to try if for a few more days and see if I can get a better feel for it. If it continues to give me these results I will probably send it back. I thinks I got better coverage with Bare Minerals, pluse its way cheaper, and so far its alot quicker than trying to apply this.
Like I said I have had mixed results, but I also remember that it took some time to get the hang of applying Bare Minerals.
I will post again in a week or so and update you on the progress.
June 19th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Okay…. I posted a comment above and said I would wait a week or so to give an update. I’m not going to need a week.
I have experimented with Luminess Air and I have found how to make it work. The directions recomend that you keep the machine set on Medium. Only the Pro comes with three levels. The basic is just one speed. I have the pro.
Okay my problem was I didn’t feel I was getting enough coverage. I have found if you set the macine on high, it covers better. If you have really clear even toned skin, you won’t need to do this. I have a little acne from time to time and I need more coverage.
I found if you do some spot work with the light foundation on your blemishes, then set the machine on high when you apply the all over foundation it works great!! I have been getting tones of compliments on my glowing skin at work.
As far as the customer service goes… I have not had any problems, but I haven’t had to deal with them since I ordered.
Oh yeah, when you set the machine on high, it take a few more drops of makeup, but its worth it.
June 20th, 2008 at 6:06 am
I’ve been burned by a product before and after reading this….I am NOT even attempting Luminess Air. Even if it does work good for some, it’s clearly not worth the hassle.
June 25th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Ok. So ive used bareminerals for 3 years, and have to this date not found anything that covers as well or looks as natural. So i tried luminess air after seeing the infomercial. Least to say, it absolutley does not cover as good as they say it does. It takes a lot of make up or drops to get any type of even coverage, so they suggest a concealer and foundation, i think thats ridiculous that you should have to apply foundation before you air brush. It takes too long. I ordered the pro system with the three settings. i paid for express shipping and it took 2 weeks to come! Not impressed! Also, I called to find out how to return this horrible thing and they said that I HAD TO PAY FOR UPS TO SHIP THIS BACK AND THEY ONLY REFUND 29.95, NO TAXES OR ANY SHIPPING. sO TOTAL to try this thing comes out to $83 for intitial trial, and now its costing around $28 to ship it back, comes to around $110 FOR THE TRIAL!!! NOT WORTH IT. its totally not a a professional system and the make up feel cheap, and it runs, it doesnt last all day, I have dry skin and moisturize. and have some acne. WAS NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL. WHAT S WORSE IS THAT I LIVE ABOUT 2 MILES FROM THEIR OFFICE AND THEY SAID I STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR UPS TO SHIP BACK. ITS JUNK…
July 16th, 2008 at 8:23 am
Do not, I repeat DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. I am on hold right now waiting for Stacey “the manager” to refund the money that Luminess Air has stolen from me. I sent their product back over a month ago, and I haven’t received my refund yet. It took me two hours to first find a phone number and then actually speak to a live person. Secondly, you have to almost give up your first-born to get the dreaded “RA#” that is neccesary to return this faulty piece of equipment. Almost two months later I am still fighting for my refund. Unless you have money to throw away…DON”T DO IT!
July 16th, 2008 at 9:01 am
Dear Customers,
This is the first time that I’ve ever taken the time to publicly comment about a make-up product. I’ve had the privilege of working with brides, grooms and their wedding parties for 16 years in California. Making them look beautiful on the most special day of their lives is my life’s work. Luminess Air has created a cheaply made, shabbily constructed product, that should be taken off of the market. It gives poor and spotty coverage that doesn’t last half-as long as other water based foundations. It takes a lot of product for one application. The airbrush machine doesn’t spray evenly, even when the tip is full. The engine overheats and turns itself off after 12 minutes of use. My staff jumped through hours of hoops just finding a live-voice to talk to on the phone. None of the customer service agents in India seemed to be knowledgeable about the product. We then requested a refund and were well within their 30-day trial period. To make a long story short…We still have not received the refund three weeks after their receipt of their product. Do not purchase this airbrush system. I can’t say what would be best for anyone, but please heed the warnings of those consumers that have gone before you and not make the same mistake.
July 16th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
I’m still waiting on the refund since April. I’m sure I’m not going to get it.
July 18th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
This whole experience was horrible. I ordered the product and paid $299 up front. I had no idea when the product would be delivered. I went on vacation to help my daughter to move out of state, and the package was delivered to me on June 10th, while I was still out of town. I didn’t even get back in town until July 14th. When UPS delivered the package, they delivered it to another person’s office, with another company occupying space in the same building as me. By the time I arrived back at my office, my office neighbor gave me my package on Tuesday, July 15th. This was my first opportunity to try the product. The video mentioned that every model was sprayed with a “spray moisturizer” before applying makeup (which did not come in my starter kit.) When I applied the makeup - it was horrible! My skin began to itch and turn red, and I couldn’t wait to get it off my face. Just to be fair, I tried putting some of my own moisturizer on my face and then tried to apply the makeup again. It itched less, but it was very drying and seemed to enhance, not decrease the lines around my eyes. It reminds me of bare mineral makeup, which goes on smoother and easier, but is very drying. When I tried to call the company that evening on July 15th, they were closed. I finally got in touch with them, after only having the product in my possession after 3 days, on the 16th, and they told me I could not return it because I was out of my 30-day trial period. I explained that UPS had delivered it to the wrong person at the wrong suite number, and I was out of town, and had only a chance to try the product for 3 days. They would not bend and suggested that I sue UPS. I asked to speak to someone in the corporate office, or a supervisor and said they would not connect me to a supervisor, and I was stuck with the product. After 3 phone calls, and threatening to get my lawyer and credit card company involved, I spoke with someone named Susan, who introduced herself as the Director of Customer Service for Luminess. I told her I had a reaction to the makeup, and went through the whole story with her, and I was only 6 days out of bounds from the actual date of delivery. She finally agreed to give me a return authorization number, but deducted $61.99 for shipping & handling and a late fee for being 6 days out of bounds. They are supposedly returning $237.01 to my credit card. I had to take her offer, because she held all the cards, but I feel like I’ve been cheated. I had no control over when my product was delivered or who accepted it in my behalf, but believe me, they WILL NOT BEND. THE DAY YOUR PRODUCT IS DELIVERED, THE CLOCK STARTS TICKING FOR YOUR 30 DAY FREE TRIAL, and don’t be one day late if you have any thoughts of returning it. I ended up paying $61.99 to sample a very bad product that I had for 3 days. The make up is, pardon my expression, CRAP. Don’t order, Don’t Buy, Don’t Try, and don’t deal with the customer service people that answer the phone from Bombei, Pompei, or wherever they are from, who you cannot understand. They don’t even list (nor can you get through Houston information) the phone number for their corporate office. One of the 3 other customer service reps that I talked to (who I could barely understand) said they occupied the whole building of the address listed on the brochure and the website. Finally, after talking with Susan, the Director of Customer Service, she admitted that they are just one of many companies in a corporate office building that is occupied with various other companies. This company is a facade, and they will take you for a bath. Also, in speaking to Susan, she told me they had placed an additional charge for $39.95 on my card for the “club” monthly automatic mail out, which I had specifically requested that they not sign me up for, so she did agree to refund that back to me as well. We’ll see. Good luck to any of you who do order this system, and BE WARY!!!!

Well it’s 4am and couldn’t sleep. I’ve been using bare minerals for over 3 years now and love it. So what would make me want to try luminess air. The infomercial demonstration on paper with wrinkles. So I was just about to order and decided to google this product to see if i could find a better price. Alas I came across this site and thank goodness. Seems like it’s much more trouble than my wrinkles. I’ve seen enough negative comments which have swayed me into sticking with bare minerals, which has been working just fine. thanks to you all.
September 14th, 2008 at 6:58 am
Ok, I bought this product before I read the comments. I was horrified to read all the stories. The product came w/in a reasonable time and I didn’t not request an special shipping.
I’m 56 years old and thought that the demo on TV looked interesting.
I tried it, and you know I sort of like it. The makeup that comes w/it does make my face way too shiny, I tend to be oily.
I’ve been using Erno Laslo for 30 years and still use some of their products, but about 2 years ago switched to youngblood. My face was just too caky with the youngblood until later in the day and then it looked pretty good.
After trying this product for a few days I pulled out some Erno normalizer shake it. It’s water based and also for oily skin. I used it in the product and it worked great, then I applied a tiny bit of the make up that comes with Luminess air.
No one has said a thing, so I’m only supposing that it’s better, but I do like it.
I do not work for the company and I did not join the monthly club. I would however like to try another brand of makeup to see if it makes my skin as shiny as their product does.
One other thing about using this is, there is no sunscreen in the makeup.
I don’t know if my skin looks younger, but it feels very light even w/the Erno under it. It does stay on all day, and I’m getting quicker in getting it applied.
I probably will keep it, unless something else comes up that I don’t like.
So far I have not had any break outs, or any other than I usually have.
I just hope they don’t start billing me for something I did not order, I will keep my order receipt just in case.

I just purchase this item today at Dillards Department Store. I had the make-up demostration at the counter and after 2 practice runs I was able to acheive a very pleasing look. The Reps. took their time and showed me a few makeup tricks! So far I am pleased!
December 8th, 2008 at 10:35 am
I ordered the pro system, got it quickly without paying extra for shipping, and have been happy with it! I got it in over a month ago. I read everything, watched the DVD, and within a couple of times of using it pretty much felt I had it down pat. I decided to use a little coverup over any pink spot, etc., instead of trying to use the lighter shade, then the regular color. I mix two shades to match my complexion. I had joined the Club, and today I called to make changes to what colors would ship. I’m getting 4 large bottles for about $60, so I’m happy with the Club as well. (I ordered the two shades I use most, a gold to try as a highlighter, and their moisturizer.) I used the darkest shade they sent in my original kit to run down the sides of my nose, under my cheekbones, under the jawline, and at the top of my forehead instead of contouring powder. I have combo skin, and on my t-zone I use a Mary Kay mattifier, then some oil-absorbing powder, then the airbrush makeup on my nose and forehead. This makeup stays on the t-zone without getting shiny MUCH better than any brand I have tried - including Estee Lauder, Clinique, Lancome, Armani, and something I bought just for that area. (Derma-matte or something.) I’m in my late 40’s, and I think it does a little better in the wrinkle areas as well, compared to the other brands. I use about 7 drops and the medium setting. I may experiment with the higher setting as someone suggested, though all in all I’m very satisfied with my results and would recommend it. I got the eyebrow shapes, found the one that matched mine most closely, and really liked the result I got using it. It sounds as if some people have had real problems with some customer service issues, so I hope they have those ironed out. Someone at the very beginning (#2) gave their number at the company to call. I had checked www.beautyblogtalk.com, and they had 96 positive feedbacks, 10 negative, and some undecideds on this product.
December 15th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
I don’t believe any of the positive reviews on this product! They seem way too scripted other then the occasional ” the product’s not bad” or the makeup. I went to beauty blog talk and there are no 96 positive feedbacks as said by the OH-SO-SCRIPTED PATSY #58! There are 40 “positive” as of today and I’m sure the company made dang sure those were there. Not only that but it seems to be a total advertisement paid to be on the site by the Luminess product owners. Look at the way the product is written about with the link to order!
Consumers: GET SMART! It’s more likely to read a made up positive review then made up elaborate negative reviews. What would be the point to spend so much time to review negatively? Who has more to gain?
I too was hoping this would be worth it but THANK GOD for people who care enough to make sure we don’t get RIPPED OFF. Thanks! =)

I have just finished watching the infommerical on Luminess Air and was really thinking about purchasing the unit. I am so glad that I came on to this site, to realize that YES there are good and bad representatives in the end it seems like a waste of money……..
January 5th, 2009 at 1:04 am
I just saw the add on tv and I was realy thinking if buying this. But now since reading all the reviews on the represenitives and the over all product not going to buy now. Hell no. I have been through all that type stuff before getting duped into monthly charges on my credit/debit card. What I plan to do which I suggest to anyone thinking of buying stuff like this with monthly payments is, put it on a prepaid debit card that way you don’t have the money on it then they don’t get the money, no over drafts no worry… you put the amont of money on the card for them when you decide to pay them. You can get these cards from Moneymart,Ace check cashing, even Walmart. They are so conveinent for online shopping.

The owner of the company is Pershant “Sean” Mehta. Just about all his products are sold under Genesis Brands. The mother company is JeMatadi.
Look at the BBB history and decide for yourself the horrible service and extreme amounts of money that they take from unsuspecting customers.

I am a professional makeup artist, I have been using airbrush makeup for years and this product is horrible!!!! The whole idea of this product is to make it easy to use at home, and it was a total nightmare. I can’t imagine the average consumer being able to use this effectively. On top of all that you are actually spending over 300.00 for this product! The bottles of makeup are very small. They tell you to spray it on thin but seriously you need about 6 sprays for complete coverage! Don’t get me started on the bronzer and blush. Don’t get me wrong airbrush makeup is a beautiful thing. It gives you that dewey look that a brush simply can’t do.So, check out www.airbrushmakeup.com they have a great airbrush system that you may love.

Thank god i saw this web site. I will think again before ever buying through the mail.
February 15th, 2009 at 5:44 pm
I’ve had my Luminess basic system since October. Friends commented on my
makeup right away. I did not get the Pro airbrush and didn’t enroll in the auto
ship - just not my style of doing business. I get 1 oz bottles of makeup from
airbrushmakeupauthority.com and then use the small 1/4 oz bottles that I refill.
Would suggest picking up a gently used system on ebay. It is so easy to put on my makeup in the a.m. and my skin feels just as natural as if I had nothing on.
Haven’t travelled with it yet, so don’t know how it will be going through security.
So bottom line, airbrush is the way to go, whatever system you try.
February 15th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
Oh, one more comment about airbrush. I had been using MaryKay mineral makeup which I really preferred over liquids, but it tended to settle in my pores and looked dirty. Airbrush applied makeup sits on the surface, so pores stay
clean.

I can’t get a hold of anyone at Luminess. I didn’t write the number down of when I first place the order today. I want to cancel the order now, but I can’t get thru to anyone. Does anyone have a number of where I can speak with a live person?
After reading all of these problems I just don’t want this product. I’d rather buy a membership and get a professional spray tan, than pay for this crap. Thanks so much in advance. Julie

Wow… So when I first saw the Luminess Air infomercial the last week, it was like love at first sight. I LOVE makeup, and I’ve always been on the lookout for foundation that can be applied without a sponge or the use of a finger and whatnot. The before and after pictures on the infomercial looked so amazing, and I was like, “dude I want this.” I think I told like half of my friends how badly I wanted it…
Yeah, no, not anymore. I was actually on Google and wanted to look up more -about- the product, and I thought I’d maybe come across positive reviews. But dang, instead I come across all these complaints. O:
But I’m glad. I sure wouldn’t want to spend all that money and go through so many problems and such. That’s horrible. I know I’d be super pissed and I would start stuff. But yeah, I’m glad people are honest about what they think about the product. Now I know better and won’t be wasting money. (: I guess I’ll just stick to Mineral Power. Now that’s great foundation.

The air brush system is terrible, I’m a make-up artist and this is by far the worst! All the ads are pre-recorderd. I am married to a marketing expert. If we were to put a terrible product on the market, I too, could make it sound amazing. The customer service for Luminess Air is worse than the air brush machine. Being that you have constant issues you have to call and be on hold 25 to 45 minutes to then speak to a person who knows nothing. I was told I had to send back my broken stlus piece but “if i called them with a tracking number, they would ship me a new one immediately,” Well I have yet to get it shipped out and If I were’nt the one who called them for the 4th time I am sure they would never send it out on the day I was quoted. Every time I call this company they lie about something. The makeup is a rip off. You need way more than 3 or 4 drops to cover your face. So unless you want to spend 200.00 a month on make-up. try another company. I never joined their discounted club because thats a lie too. My friend showed me the reciepts on her card. They keep billing her every month and ripping her off too. There club prices are not 32 or 34 dollars a bottle. Hopefully I have spaired someone the aggrevation by reading this!
Thank You For allowing me to post my experience.
February 28th, 2009 at 2:37 am
WOW! i was getting ready to order this system….and then read all the tutorials. Thank you soo much for posting your experiences. I am always getting dupped into these info commercials for some reason I think that these products always work, and then you get them at home and experience this. For some reason I am sucker and order things thinking this may be different. I do believe also that the positive remarks were people from the company as well. Thank you for everyone’s truthful comment. I am interested in airbrush makeup so if anyone had a good experience with a product please email me at kuklaki21@aol. Thanks again

Its really sad to read so much negative feedback on what I thought would be an awesome product when I saw it on the TV not long ago. I decided to find out more today becuase I was excited about applying make-up the way models and actresses do! Then I read all this! Isn’t there a company out there whose motto is “do unto others and you would have them do unto you” anymore? C’mon Luminess! With so much going on in the lives of women today we love and need products that enhance and make our daily routines easier, less stressful, and that help us become even more beautiful than we already are, inside and out, so we walk out the door with our heads held high, ready to meet the world…but how can we when our trust in a company and it’s product leaves us the opposite…saddened that we are taken advantage of, frustrated that we aren’t told honestly everything expected from purchase to receipt..uneasy about the longevity of it’s guarantee. Make-up and it’s application isn’t supposed to leave a woman feeling anything negative at all, especially when it’s the first thing we do in the morning and helps to set things for the rest of the day!…it’s all about beauty and it goes without saying that a smile on the face of it’s recipient should always be it’s goal! Owners/Management of Luminess…you should go back to the board room, sincerely listen to your target market and their concerns about every aspect of your product(s), fix the problems, re-train your staff, do all humanly possible to make your product number one in this market…then, and only then will the negatives turn to positives and your company rise to the pedestal on which it says it already stands. I personally will NOT buy this product until I read reply after reply after reply that it’s the most amazing and wonderful product and company experienced. I guess it’s still true what they say…if it seems to good to be true, it is!
March 5th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
I found this quite accidentally while looking for eye makeup for the airbrush. I read a few of the comments and then I had to read down to the last one. In the interim I felt bad for all the ladies who had so many problems and guessed I was lucky, I ordered on Jan 14th, it shipped the 16th and got here like at the end of the month (didnt bother with express shipping). Well low and behold i got this gut feeling to check my bank account and on Feb 11th i got charged for the make up and today its March 5th and no packages arrived here. My guess is that I will have the pleasure of experiencing the same thing most of you have, that is an hour on the phone and probably no results. Actually I am seriously thinking of stopping payment. After all, it is the only language understood by all…
March 16th, 2009 at 8:30 pm
I just watched the paid programming on this product… my husband actually asked me “why don’t you just try it” (he NEVER says that)… I was so close to just calling the number, thankfully I got on here first.
I am so glad I did, I definitely do not want to order something where I am going to regret buying it before it shows up at my door, and if this is the kind of company that uses “open end” transactions, then they can keep their product.
I have fallen for some scams over the years, but I do believe I’m gonna let this one pass me on by. I definitely don’t need anything that they are going to charge me $299 up front, $30 + a month, when they advertise it for $25 plus shipping (when shipping is $25 too <–that’s INSANE!)….
yep I’m very glad I got this information from this site, my husband will be so proud to know I’m not going to get suckered into this one.

March 21st, 2009 at 7:48 am
Tell me how to opt-out by email at marie.menard@mail.mcgill.ca
March 24th, 2009 at 4:49 am
Thanks for all the information, everyone! Like so many other women I, too, became fascinated by the infomercial and wanted to have that airbrushed look with my makeup. After reading everyone’s experiences, I will NOT be risking my money with this company. It seems like the people who had great experiences had really great experiences, but they also seem to get lost in all the horribly negative feedback. I also agree with another post…I think you almost have to have fairly good skin in the first place to get that ‘magazine’ look. I have been using Bare Minerals for almost four years now and although I like it much better than store-brand liquid makeup, it does not cover my dark circles or minimize pores and fine line. In fact, it actually accentuates them a bit (and I even use a great primer and keep my skin very hydrated). Just one other thing to remember…it’s understandable that we might get upset at customer service, especially if the rep doesn’t speak English very well. But we shouldn’t be calling people out by ethnicity. It’s makes us sound very rude and ignorant. It’s the company’s fault that they hire people with whom we can’t communicate very well.
March 28th, 2009 at 1:30 am
It sounds like the product is good, but the customer service is terrible. Unfortunately if the customer service is not good, then it makes it not worth getting. The product is supposed to help make you look 10yrs younger, but with the stress of dealing with them, you age 10yrs older. lol Although there are a few positive post, there are way more bad experiences, and too many are common money problems! When it comes to taking your money but not delivering, then stay away.
I know I’ve changed my mind for now. I’ll wait until the company gets better with their service.
March 29th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
Wow…I just order the product last night and now very worried about what i’m in for. If I would have read these prior to the late night impulse buy, I definatley would have not purchased it from this vendor but the probably tried the Dinar. Oh well, i’m really worried now and willing to bite the bullet and not return it but somehow use it for something. Just worried that cancelling the membership is going to be just as much a pain as returning the whole unit.
I order it over the phone after an infomercial. The order taker was nice and i did get the express shipping and a few additional services. My bank was debited today and I just ordered last night. Wow, that was fast but until i get the unit i will reserve judgement. Guess i should go to bed by 9pm and miss all the infomercials…but lets see what happens.
I’m going to reserve my final judgement til I get it and try it. Too late now they got my money just hope I can salvage something and cancel my membership. I dont even know if I signed up for it. But if the majority of the posts are right…i probably was….wish me luck!
March 30th, 2009 at 7:55 am
UPDATE: I called LA today to cancel my LA Club membership. The rep was very friendly and helped me out and told me my membership was cancelled. I did ask for a confirmation email which was an email with my original order. Didnt mention that my membership was cancelled. I read the email and it said that if you cancel your order before it shipped you could get a full refund.
Second call: I talked to a rep who was helpful but did try to persuade me to at least get the product and try it out for the 30 day trail. I asked politely no thank you and eventually he issued me a cancellation for the order. He also informed me that it would take 3-5 business days for the refund. I know its his job to try to get customers to try and keep thier product. He asked if there was anything else and I said no. After I hung up I forgot to ask for an email confirmation.
Third call: I talked with another friendly rep who helped me out and she did send me a confirmation email with amount to be refunded.
The average wait time for a rep was about 15 minutes per call. The reps were helpful and friendly. Overall, I am satisfied with the Customer Service I got and now just waiting for my refund in 3-5 business days. Will update next week to let you all know what happens.
Really was terrified from reading these posts but so far mine experience was good. Can’t comment on the product so i’ll leave that to those who actually received the product. All I can comment on is the customer service which was good but I might have nipped any issues in the bud. But I will comment in a week to let you all know if I got my refund.
April 1st, 2009 at 12:05 pm
UPDATE 2:
Hello all…looks like everyone went quiet but did get my refund today for the whole amount. Thanks all for warding me off this product…going to look at dinar products…any comments on that product?
April 11th, 2009 at 12:17 am
I completely do not comprehend any of the complaints that seem to drag on and on. As consumers you have a tremendous amount of power.Maybe it is ignorance but there are agencies that will help like the Attorney General’s office or any consumer protection agency. They have more clout than you do and besides will save you time, energy, money and hassle. . Also, a simple call to the Credit Card company to dispute the Luminess Air charges and claims will do wonders. When a charge is disputed, the CC company charges Luminess Air with a $35 fee. When you submit a claim through your CC company, make sure its within the 30 day trail period. I’m a paralegal in case you are wondering.

I am really unhappy
I was sent the wrong color then sent another color to light
I tried calling several times with no success and given all of these
Prompts and a man with an accent who acted like he did not uinderstand me
answered the phone putting me on hold for another girl who told me I would have to talk to a supervisor
by the time I contacted them about it
it was too late to send back I explained to them
I would send the make up back and they could send something else and I would keep the machine but i need colors that would match my skin
I was told to mix the colors and they acted very unconcerned
with no sucees I am stuck with something that can not be used
April 19th, 2009 at 9:01 am
I tried the luminess air, I too have extremely oily skin and this product didnt work for me. By the end of the day I was blotchy and shiny. wouldnt recommend it.
April 21st, 2009 at 6:50 pm
Wow… I was watching the infomercial, and was really excited. It didn’t seem terribly fake. I’m so glad I thought to google it first!! Your all’s comments saved me a lot of time, hassle, and money. The few positive comments on here seem awfully scripted, and even if they aren’t, they are far outnumbered. Thank you, ladies, for sharing your stories!!
April 29th, 2009 at 11:52 pm
Wow I was going to buy it but I always like to see consumers opinions. And I am super glad I did. I do like makeup but to be honest I’m cheap. I will not spend a lot of money if its not worth it. Thank you. Sorry to all who had bad experiences. Good luck to those who are still having problems!
April 30th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
Horrible product they are scam artist not makeup artist they took my money and said i never had an account the product does not work…if you buy this expensive piece of crap GOODLUCK you have been scammed.. May 2nd, 2009 at 5:13 am
BUYER BEWARE OF FAKE POSITIVE POSTS!
# Sierra Says:
i think lana sprat (comment #40) isnt a real customer. she works at luminessair or got paid to write that bulls*** for them.
Well, Sierra was right… Lana’s last name is Sprat (see)——->
40. Lana Sprat Says:
Now, look at Dee’s post (#35) she is very thorough in listing information about the company, INCLUDING the names of the people who are managers, investors, and owners. If you read through her post you will see that the
Director of Customer Relations name is Susan Spratley, this seems to be the Susan that everyone on this board is referring to when they speak of talking to a Susan, whom they spoke to after getting nowhere with the customer service agent- so this “Susan” is obviously someone in the company who ranks high pull… and would certainly stand to lose a lot should the company get bad reviews by word of mouth , and also stands to gain a bad reputation by bad reviews, so she would be the one most likely to want “positive” reviews written about LuminessAir…. but what do you do if there are NONE? what if all the reviews are negative? and you can’t hardly even find ONE positive review about the product? well, you would do what she has done, and send in a family member to write one! don’t you think it’s odd that Lana’s last name is awfully similar to Susan’s? I bet Lana’s real last name is Spratley. I bet Lana nor Susan ever anticipated the names of the company’s higher-ups to appear on the site where negative reviews were being written.
and as for that www.beautyblogtalk.com, those positive reviews are ALL fake,
you can tell because out of the very few that gave a thumbs down, blamed THEMSELVES for the negative experience and NOT the company! ALL of them. gimme a break, WHO does that? shit like… “maybe it’s me, maybe i just ordered the wrong color.” and then goes on to praise the product…”well, i’m sure this is an awesome product, like everyone is saying it is, but i guess its just not for me.” that’s such a crock!… so they think…OK, well not to look obvious by writing aqll these fake positive reviews, we’ll need to throw a couple of negative ones in there too… but lets not write anything negative, we still want to make the company look as good as possible.. THAT’S the tactics they are using to trick you into buying this shit… DON’T believe the positive reviews, and if they are posted in a forum, always look at the number of posts that person has made… if it’s their first post, or their # of posts are extremely low, like in the first 3 , you can guarantee it’s a positive post planted there by the company.. damn that pisses me off, if you have a shitty product, you’re gonna get negative reviews- that’s what you get for pushing it on the public… if you don’t want negative reviews, then don’t sell the shit!!
May 2nd, 2009 at 8:03 pm
I was totally considering this product and wanted to purchase it soon, but after reading all the negative things about it I am definately not going to. I thank all the people who have tried luminess before I made the mistake of re-living the nightmare. At least you are making an effort to spread the word that this product is derfinately not worth it. Thanks again.!
May 3rd, 2009 at 11:27 am
I bought my Luminess Pro system from Dillards in the mall. They now sell the airbrush system itself, as well as all the makeup, in the store (at least they do in GA). They will even show you how to use it. I just started using it, but I LOVE the way it makes my complexion look - I am a red head and have very oily skin. I hate how regular make-up always separates and then collects in my pores, but so far I am not seeing that problem with the Luminess. I DON’T use the blush…it goes on scary dark for my skin tone. I just use my regular blush right over the top
I am certainly glad I didn’t order from the website, though. Maybe these problems are why they also sell it at Dillards, now? I woud imagine Dillards wouldn’t carry it if it was a horrible product. It also seemed a lot cheaper buying it from them.
May 3rd, 2009 at 11:29 am
P.S. by the way, I am a high school teacher and don’t work for Luminess (of course, I would probably get paid more if I worked for Luminess, but that is beside the point - lol)
May 4th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
if you are broke and don’t have much money, then you need to quit trying to be and look like those in hollywood.. why would you think that/ you can do airbrushing like the folks in hollywood and it be cheap? please be real! AND I’M NOT FAKE b/c i like the product, NOR B/C I KNOW HOW TO USE IT.. i see those that probably held it too close and then blame the makeup and the machine, when ITS YOU.. most of the people that have bad reviews probably don’t know how to apply regular makeup.. i went to youtube adn watched lots of videos b4 it arrived so i’d know what to expect, then watched the DVD.. i love the product, i was smart enough not to order express b/c i probably got it in the same time as those that did.. you can change the time in when you receive the makeup, i don’t need it every other month, so i made it come in longer periods if you don’t need it that soon.. I DID, and even changed the payment schedule to suit me..i look totally flawless everyday i love it, and it STAYS ON YOUR FACE until you take it off, i couldn’t believe how beautiful i looked ALL DAY LONG.. i’m cancelling bare minerals b/c this is it for me.. i’m a totally glowing, flawless beauty every single day AND I LOVE IT..
May 13th, 2009 at 7:56 pm
wow.. I almost bought it. I was so close, thankyou ladies for all the information. I was so excited with the infomercial about it only being about 30 dollars. They could of atleast said that it was the trial fee..what a joke.
May 23rd, 2009 at 4:11 am
Thank you so much for all the HONEST comments. I was seriously thinking about buying it until I did some research and found this website. No way in hell am I buying this crap now!
May 24th, 2009 at 10:09 pm
Well I’m glad u ladies took the time to write because i was just about to order it for my girlfriend then I came across this website and changed my mind. It sure looked great on TV but as u all have assured its not worth the money or the time. Keep posting and prevent the damage to others pockets.
Thanks
May 26th, 2009 at 3:43 am
thanks for all ur common. i’m almost bought it. after read all ur reviews i don’t think i buy it. thanks
June 15th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
It is sad to see so many negetaive reviews on such a wonderful product. I am so glad that I ordered this before I found this site, I was wanting to Blog on how great this is and maybe learn some new makeup tricks from some fellow airbrushers…..If you are interested in ordering this I say go for it, I love it and will never turn back! It does have a learning curve but is sooooooo worth it.
June 19th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
Hi, I have a used unit (The Pro) from my older sister. It’s about 8 months old. SHe never had a problem with it once she learned how to use it properly. I’m just getting the hand of it. I was sorry to hear of all of the people who had had problems with the company and some of the employees.
For those of you who used the unit, can the self tanner stuff be used with the Pro unit? The ad on their website shows what looks like other equipment being used. If anyone has any inof on this, I’d greatly appreciate your input. I would be great if you could use the unit to do self tanning (the kind that lasts a few days or so). Thanks.
June 28th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
I have the Luminess Air system. I love it! However, I too, was overwhelmed by the lady with whom I spoke. She was fast talking, figures were tossed at me and I was confused, the shipping and handling of around 49 bucks was staggering, and the foundation colors were all too dark except for one. I am not sure the tiny bottle of foundation is worth $29.99- ok I am sure it is not, however, it matches my skin color perfectly and is the only makeup that has ever done so. I do not want to receive all the other colors in the makeup ‘club’, and have to contact them to see if I can get just the one color, but I have had the system for only a week or so. It sprays great, several layers work best for my extensive scar coverage, rather than one heavy layer, and it cleans up so easily. Overall? Expensive but creates a finish that really is flawless. I saw one woman say it made her skin greasy looking, I chose a matte makeup and there is absolutely no shine at all. I hope this helps someone, and I would be happy to send by email my pics before and after if I were asked. Oh, I use my regular makeup remover and it comes right off.
June 28th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
Oh- I forgot to say that I got it in the 3-5 express days I paid extra for also. Only after I read one or two women’s questions about this system did I figure out how to place an answer, and now I have gone through some of the gals questions and answers on this site. I see a lot of concerns and troubles. If I had read these I might have not ordered. I am sure pleased that I did, and I am a 54 year old disabled jewelry designer sitting in my 37 ft. fifth wheel travel trailer trailer in which I have lived for 6 years with my hubby and two kitties. I am definitely NOT an employee of Luminess. I did not get the automatic shipments and makeup club option and I am glad because only one color of foundation really matches my skin. I see I can order single bottles whenever I want at their website for only a couple bucks more than the club price, plus I wont get the bronzer, glimmers, highlighter and whatever else comes in the kit. Really I am glad to talk to anyone about my experience and will even add my phone number- please, please please, don’t use it unwisely or cruelly. I wish you all the best of luck whether you choose to use this system or not. Thanks! 541-603-0001

CANCEL YOUR CREDIT CARD IF YOU WANT OUT OF THIS!!
July 7th, 2009 at 4:54 am
I was just about to order the Luminess Pro and decided to do some web searching on the product, so glad I did. More bad reviews than good and I just saved myself a bunch of headaches it sounds like. Thanks everyone for your reviews!
July 8th, 2009 at 1:11 pm
dont buy ==a night mare to deal with ===they speak only broken english when you can get in touch with them === their phones and numbers rarely work they cant send you a statement ==so you just chalk it up to an education in being cheated
July 13th, 2009 at 10:44 am
I have recently purchased the luminess basic product (early June) and am finding I really like it. I am from Canada and had ordered the product expecting to have to wait at least 6 weeks to recieve it but to my surprise I received it within 2 weeks and did not request the rush shipment, thank goodness. Unfortunately I did not read the above posts and am currently wondering if I have made a huge mistake. I am going to cancel the auto ship and not continue to order any makeup from them. I will try other makeup products whether it voids the warranty or not as it seems I wouldn’t be able to resolve a warranty issue with them if I have any problems with the unit in the near future.
I wish I had looked up a consumer comment site prior to ordering as I definitely would NOT have ordered this product after reviewing all the negative posts. I guess BUYER BEWARE is a difinite in this case!!
July 18th, 2009 at 11:36 am
Thank u,thank u,thank u,Im a MUA (make up artist) and i was about to buy luminess b4 i read this, can’t thank u enough for keep me from making a bad investment.
July 21st, 2009 at 6:34 pm
I ended up purchasing the Dinair system, and thanking God that I did. After reading all the bad reviews on the Luminess system I’m really thanking my lucky stars today. For those of you who have asked about the Dinair, it does take a few practice tries of applying the blush to keep from looking like a clown. I had no problem with applying the foundation. I don’t wear alot of makeup, so I usually only apply the foundation, blush, and a little eyeshadow. However, today I did go back online and purchased one lip color and lip stencils for 35.00 which included shipping costs. I can’t wait to get it and try it out. I had a wedding to go to a couple of weekends ago and received several compliments on my makeup. Later that night my husband and I ate at a high end restaurant and I had no need to touch up my makeup. If anyone else uses the Dinair system I would be interested in knowing if you can use regular, liquid makeup and just thin it down with toner.
July 24th, 2009 at 11:17 am
I am so glad I came to this site beforehand. I did not realize that there was more to it than the $29.95~ I was watching the infomercial at 2 a.m and it sounded too good to be true.
Many people did not like the product and it is not worth hundreds of dollars to me,that’s for sure.
Thanks all
I should have known better, everything looks marvelous at 2 in the morning!
July 27th, 2009 at 2:13 am
Thanks to everyone who took the time to share your experiences! I will NOT be ordering this product. I am usually a impulse buyer, but something told me to double check the internet for peoples oppinions.
July 31st, 2009 at 12:45 am
OMG do not buy this product! i ordered it and recieved it in one week without paying the express shipping…you might think AWESOME,,,right?, WRONG…i tried not to be too picky and make a fuss about the “confirmation email” not sent, which they say i would get within 24. But anyways…i watched the dvd…and of course theres catches! the models aparantly have had other thing done to them, these things are barely mentioned and are not included in the product! Whatever, the actual sprayer was not bad but it wasn’t what they made it out to be in the infomercials…i think they use a good one and sell us a crapy one…it gets clogged and spits make up before and during the application…the make up is soooooo CHEAP! and it takes for ever to look “ok”…nothing special….so i thought let me apply more right? well all that did was make my face look fake, and its not like i went crazy and applied more, i took gradual steps…and got a horrible look. Now don’t get me started on customer service…i asked for the 30 day trial without automatic shipping when i ordered it,,,and told her 3 times just to be sure,,,and sure enough they’re so stupid, they still did automatic charges and i didnt recieve anything in the mail!!! they took out 29.99 out of my accound 9 times!!! and i had bearly ordered the product 10 days ago…well one thing is for sure i’m not going to deal with customer service after reading all these blogs…i am going straight for my lawyers and i’m going to make sure all us women get justice for this effing scam!…if after these you still decide to try it out…i feel sorry for you…they go out of their way in those infomercials and make it seem like this product is god! but its not

order.. You all saved me $$$$ THANK YOU AGAIN.. and to Luminess Air:
SHAME on YOU… Better Busines need to revoke your business

I have been using this product for a year now and it works for me, but I just use the foundation. I am not a make up artist. I am a mom of two that gets up at 5:15am to get ready and get our the door in an hour to face a 1 hour commute. I have become quite proficient at it, to the point that I can put on makeup faster by airbrushing.
Now… the customer service is terrible. I have had the pleasure of having to deal with them three times and every time they manage to make my blood boil.
August 10th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
I also made a purchase with this company $29.95 for a trial period. I did not agree to become a monthly member, so once I noticed a bill the following month for $69.95 I called to cancel and requested a refund in which they agreed to do. Well, the following month guess what $69.95 again. When I called they asked if i had the conformation code ( uh no they never gave me one) without the code the account is still active. So the bottom line is always ask for the code to verify that the account canceled.
August 10th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
I forgot to mention that I haven’t received anything else from the company no mailings, no more products, no nothing. So what is it that I am supposed to be paying for that I don’t want?
August 15th, 2009 at 4:25 am
Thanks to all of your reviews. I saw the informercial, and was intrigued. I also saw the fact it stated “trial - for 29.99″ so I actually looked online to find the TOTAL price of the unit. I found all of the reviews on accident. I am going to check out the other one next, DinAir. Thanks guys again!!! Sorry you have had crappy service, but they aren’t afiliated with the BBB. If they aren’t usually afiliated or reconized by the BBB that is a big red flag! So thanks again guys!!!!
August 24th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
I’m glad I did my research and read these reviews. I was a bridesmaid at a wedding and the bride hired a professional makeup artist for the wedding party. She airbrushed all of us and we looked fantastic. I was amazed as I never had been airbrushed before. She was using a system called Airpro makeup and I thought I would buy one for myself if I could find it. I saw the Luminess infomercial and thought this is great only $29.99 but it’s not worth the potential stress so I will try to contact the makeup artist from the wedding and try to get more info on the Airpro system she was using. I will report back my experience after my purchase. Thanks everyone!
August 28th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
I tried Luminess Air for a couple of weeks, but had to send it back because it dried out my fact and I developed a fine rash (allergy?). I ordered the matte finish. I had paid the entire price for it, but when I sent it back within 5 days of getting the Return Authorizaiton number, The company deducted $30 off my refund. I guess that was for the trial, although I thought if you returned it within the time limit, you weren’t to be charged. Oh, well…So I would never order anything else from the company.

has this luminess air make anyone whites of there eye turn brown
August 31st, 2009 at 7:11 am
one of my eyes the white part of my eye turned brown im not 100 percent it was the luminess air but after a month of using this product the whites of my eyes turned brown anyone out there had same problem
September 5th, 2009 at 5:39 pm
To Niya, If you haven’t resolved the problem with the white of the eyes turning brown, yet… please go to your doctor. It does not make sense, but if they are truly brown, something is not normal. Get it checked out.
Also, to all, thank you for your warnings…….I was going to order, thinking the early comments were a year ago, so it has probably gotten better. Then I followed along to current time, so I will NOT be ordering. Also, I should know better as several months ago I ordered from a company selling tea and could not get any help from a live person, and the company kept charging my card. I had to go to my bank and cancel that account. Once burned, I guess makes you a bit more wary, so I am listening to what’s been said and stopping here.

Hello,
I am writing to tell of my very poor experience with Luminess Air. I had an online account phished last week and unbeknownst to me, orders were placed with 7 different companies for various products. Luminess Air was one of them. When I noticed the fraud, I contacted the police, my bank (as it was my check card that was compromised), and the companies with which the orders were placed (all online or over the phone). I called Luminess Air first because they had the largest charge of $212.85. The first lady I talked to had a very thick accent and was extremely hard to understand. As I would ask her to repeat things, she would just speak louder. I told her my situation and she asked me to verify my account info. The scammer had used my name and address to have the product ordered and shipped, but used their own email and phone number for the order verification. She then told me that the product had already been shipped and that she couldn’t do anything for me until I received it. She also told me that I would only be refunded the cost of the unit ($179.95) and not the cost of shipping ($32.95) or the trial I allegedly ordered ($29.95) and I would also have to pay the shipping cost to return it AFTER I obtained a return authorization number from them. I told them I was unhappy with their service and ended the call. I called back the next day because I received the crap makeup and did not have the opportunity to refuse delivery. The agent I got this time was a male and also had a very thick accent. He basically accused me of ordering the product because he didn’t understand how it could be ordered and shipped to me without me actually ordering it. I then proceeded to explain to him EXACTLY how online phishing and fraud occur and HOW someone could call in with my information just to screw up my life. He then told me that I could obtain the RA# and send it back and if I had a police report, which he didn’t believe I had, then they could refund the shipping and trial cost. However, I was not inclinded to believe them and I still didn’t believe I should have to pay to ship the package back. So, I hung up on him. I finally had to get my mother (yes I am 27 and had my mom call) to call them because she has worked in banking, loans, and FTC for over 30 years. She told them they were a party to fraud and that we would be reporting them to the FTC. She also told them that the bank would be refunding our money and that we had no reason to return the product since we will be getting the money back, but we were giving them the opportunity to make it right. She asked them repeatedly to send a shipping label and they refused each time. She told them they would be receiving a chargeback from the bank and will also lose their product if they continued to refuse to help. They still alleged that I had ordered the product and had second thoughts and wanted to return. She then asked them to play the recording of the original order and to compare it to my earlier two calls and her call to see if it sounded the same. She finally got them to read her the email address and it was for a someone with the last name Marion@hotmail.com. She asked them if that made sense to them since that is NOWHERE NEAR my name and they admitted it did not. My whole issue with them is that they have not even attempted to help nor believe that I had not ordered their product. Upon calling the other companies with which fraudulent orders were placed, they were happy to reverse the charges and one of the companies had identified it as fraud themselves even before I called. So, if a company is going to allow its customers to bear the cost for THEIR lack of controls, what are they worth? This is the poorest customer service I have ever experienced and they have made a horrible experience even worse. I now have a box of makeup I don’t want, several trials of colon cleanser, some wrinkle cream (again, I am 27), and was signed up for Fast Grants…I have successfully cancelled everything I was signed up for…except the Luminess. I am filing a complaint with the BBB, FTC, and anywhere else I can. BUYER BEWARE!!! Horrible customer service, which I would imagine is backed by a poor product! Even if I had ordered and elected to return it, I would still be out nearly $65 for the trial!!! RIDICULOUS!!! Again, BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!
September 27th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
Hello: I ordered the Luminess Air kit about 2 weeks ago and I received it just shortely thereafter. I did not do the trial because the customer service person said, “I wouldn’t be charged the trial amount (almost) $30 if I returned it within 30 days. So, I just put the full amount on my cc. I received the product on Saturday, then on Sunday, I jumped out of bed, washed my face and began playing around with this product and the sprayer. Guess what? I like it! I used a moisturizer first (since it’s oil free, there’s not much moisturizer in it and it would probably not work well in the machine) and it went on really well. It was fun. I especially liked the fact that when I put my under-makeup moisturizer on then sprayed the foundation on, I wasn’t moving my moisturizer around or off with the sponge from my foundation. I haven’t seen any negative actions on my cc account but I do appreciate all the “heads-up” and will look closely for any problems as stated in the previous remarks. It seems that the product is fine and that’s not the issue here….it’s the poor customer service and the way this company handles their business practices. Hope they figure it out as I will continue to purchase my foundation from them. Thanks and good luck everyone.

I bought the air brush system about 3 months ago. I recieved it (rush) ,as promised, and love the product. I have always been unsatisfied with most makeups but am very pleased with this one. I just have one problem… I am in the monthly club to receive the makeup, however I have only received one shipment and am dissappointed there. Hopefully someone will look into this and make sure I receive my shipments I am paying for.
October 11th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
I ordered the pro system, and was not told by the representative that it costs more for the trial period, then the basic system. Then, the representative told me that the makeup was on sale and to order another set. So, it costs over $400.00 and if I pay in one payment, they will deduct $50.00. Ordered it, makeup did not cover in the 2-4 drops as they say……I am a makeup artist.. Colors were too dark and I called them back as my representativ as well as the website says that they will replace the kit once, if the makeup is not the right color. When I called, the man (whom could barely speak English) told me that I could not return the makeup for hygenic reasons. I told him one complete kit had not been opened, and only 2 of the bottles were opened. He said sorry….So I called the Better Business Bureau and also found out where they were here in Houston, Texas area…..I called them again and got a different representative, this one gave me a return authorization number. I sent it next day, it took them 14 days to credit me and they did not credit me what I was supposed to receive. When I called again (this is getting beyond frustrating) the gentleman told me that it costs more to try the Pro system….I told him I was not told that by the representative that I had placed the order with, and he said, Oh, well..” I informed him that the conversations are supposedly recorded and I wanted to hear it, then he replies, ” If you call back in 2 weeks,
we should have the conversation,” I gave up on this and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SYSTEM TO ANYONE AND THEY HAVE BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE….BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!

I am going to be ordering this next week but I am ordering from HSN

I just watched the infomercial about Luminess and was very interested in ordering the product. I then researched it a little and came across this forum. After reading the comments here, I found there were a few concurring points that helped me make my decision about purchasing the system.
Points noted:
Point #1: The make up system is OK … Expensive..but still a worth while investment.
Point #2: Customer service sucks so bad it cancels out Point #1
Sorry Luminess …. Until you improve your customer service … You won’t be getting my business.
October 19th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
Hi,
I have been using Luminess Air for quite a while now. It’s the best thing I have ever seen. I just have one problem. I was trying to clean the needle the other day and the little handle at the top that you use to spray the make up onto your face fell out with some little piece inside and I have put it back inside but now the handle goes too far to the back. It’s almost on the third level. I think I did it wrong and I don’t know how to fix it. Can anybody help me?
Thanks,
J.

Almost NO one has a nice thing to say about the company, it’s customer service or policies but has anyone over 60 with wrinkles tried it and liked it?
How does it wear?
What happens after you smile a few times?
Do the wrinkles look worse?
Help!!
HSN has this product and their shipping and returns are easy and I want to try it but is this a young persons product or can those of us with patches and brown spots and yes…. deep wrinkles get good results?
Thanks

I stumbled across this site because I was researching a different product by the same company: LUMINESS TAN
https://www.luminesstan.com/homepage.aspx
I became a little wary after googling “Luminess Tan review” and coming across many legitimate LOOKING (and maybe so) beauty blogs with the same types of formulatic reviews “I’m so damn pale, and I tried this—AMAZING–blah blah blah. They sounded scripted, like they were trying so hard to sound natural, but weren’t succeeding– look for yourself:
http://www.girl-woman-beauty-brains-blog.com/category/Luminess+Tan
http://www.kraseybeauty.com/2009/06/bronzed-goddess-courtesy-of-luminess.html
http://butterflydiary.com/2009/05/bronze-is-the-new-gold-%E2%80%93-luminess-airbrush-tan-review/
Some of them even sound like advertisements. It would not be difficult or expensive for Luminess to create fake blogs, or to pay off “legitimate” blogs. They have everything to gain and I would not put it past them after reading everything on this forum.
I found this forum after I typed in LUMINESS SCAM.
Yes it’s true, I am damn pale and this system sounded like a miracle, like its too good to be true. Even if it was a miracle, after reading everything here it would not be worth it to give my $ to these crooks. If it TRULY IS a miracle for pasty people, then I won’t have to wait long for another company to copy the technology (or improve it) and hopefully then I can tan safely. Until then, forget about it!
And I get so mad when Luminess calls this stuff affordable–sure affordable if YOU KNOW IT WORKS—not affordable to just go on blind faith and trust, cross your fingers and hope it works. Paying over $100 for their poorly made plastic sprayer and makeup made for 10 cents in China is a scam.
And besides, the spray tanner probably clogs just as much as the makeup sprayer, and I’m sure the tiny-ass bottles don’t last half as long as they claim.
One more thing, Luminess’s claim that their tanning system is one of ALLURE Magazine’s HOTTEST SELF TANNERS is probably a lie too. I googled to find an article or review from Allure and couldn’t find any. I’m in the right mind to call Allure and ask if they have ever reviewed the product.
Thanks everyone for saving me from sure agony……
October 25th, 2009 at 2:14 am
why don’t you try this: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P242119&categoryId=C21481
It’s $225 in total, but from now until Nov. 2nd, you can use a promo code to get 20% off. Promo code: FF2009 (the code to useful for other products too)
just paste the code on the bottom of the sheet sheet where you give your card information. I would trust a brand name store more than anything on infomercials. well, good luck!

This is in regards to Unhappy #124 response. I have been in contact with Luminess Air since 9/22 about a charge that was put on my check card. It was for $46.45 but was to be a continued monthly payment. After calling my bank to change my card information and alert them of the fraud, I tried to explain my situation to Luminess Air, which did nothing, and when my bank refunded my account for the fraudulent amount, Luminess challenged this and it was again taken out. The strange thing is they had my name, home address, and phone number all correct. The only thing not mine was the email address used to order it. The other strange thing is this was the ONLY fraudulent order on my account. I never heard of Luminess Air before this incident and they REFUSE to give me the money back without an open police report, which she reported would consist of checking my IP address and all of my friends IP addresses in order for them to refund me anything! Not only have I been residing in a different country these past few months (the order was sent to my parents in the US) but why would I go through the hassle of opening a police report for $46? My parents sent back the product and again had to pay shipping and Luminess said that only stops the monthly payments, so even though I have no product, they won’t be refunding any amount! I think this company is a scam and they illegally obtain peoples information for these types of incidents to happen while making it IMPOSSIBLE for any money to be returned (without the police report).
November 24th, 2009 at 7:08 pm
THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW HOW TO TAKE A CLASS ACTION SUIT OUT AGAINST THEM. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS MOST OF YOU STATED ABOVE AND THINK WE SHOULD ALL CONTACT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE IN TEXAS. IF YOU LOOK AT THE FRIENDS OF SUSAN SPRATLEY ON FACEBOOK, THEY ALL LOOK LIKE THUGS.
November 25th, 2009 at 10:42 am
I saw this product being offered through Home Shopping Network (HSN) under $200.00 and I would feel more comfortable ordering though them.
December 8th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
GO TO HSN THEY HAVE THE LUMINESS AIR FOR A LOT LESS WITH FREE SHIPPING .
December 11th, 2009 at 11:00 pm
ive wanted to try this product too but honestly i’d rather go to sephora at the mall and try their airbrush system someone will actually do it for you so you can see the result for free just like a foundation sample when you go to MAC or lancome
December 15th, 2009 at 5:05 pm
I have the system and love it BUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A HORROR SHOW. I got a bottle of makeup broken at the top under the cap and they will not take it back or send me a new one. I wish I could get the makeup from a different company! They are rude, arrogant, unhelpful, and good luck finding someone to complain to about their awful service. I wish I had bought something else.
December 19th, 2009 at 3:05 am
You guys should try this Sally Hansen Airbrush makeup in a spray can. It’s very cheap and I loved using this stuff. The only issue is that it’s not easy to find.
http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/sally-hansen-fast-flawless-airbrush-makeup-no-color-1-oz-reviews
I am 55 years old and don’t look very good anymore, but this stuff made me feel like I was 30 years old. It covers flawlessly. Probably the same as the luminess or dinair, More cosmetic companies should make stuff like this it does not glob up or look cakey. Try it for like $4.99 and you’ll see what I mean.
December 30th, 2009 at 5:33 am
My wife purchased an air brush cosmetic product she thought was $65 with additional purchases for make-up. She attempted to cancel (in July I think) but was unable to do so. She left several voice mails with no response. Since that time this company has continued to attempt to charge our credit card on a monthly basis. I researched and found several other people on the internet had similar complaints and on a lark, tried calling the customer service number. The company absolutely refused to accept a return, event though the product never did what it claimed. The phone representative was abusive, threatening to sue us and even stated my wife was probably afraid of me. I want them to take this thing back, refund the money we have paid, and stop charging our credit card. I have an active complaint with the BBB, the Texas Attorney General, and the ITC.
Pershant & Nidhika Mehta seem to enjoy the high-society cicrles in the Houston area, sponsoring an India art exhibit recently and posing for every photo opp. they can. Maybe they should put their products on display and call it “American Junk”. It’s nice to see the mansion this guy lives in from the profits of such great customer service.
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:19 am
I never order any of these things, they all put you on that monthly thing or you can’t get a hold of anyone to cancel or whatever. The few times I have ordered things this is what happens. I have never heard of one infomercial that has much truth to it. They are all a bunch of scams. That guy that sells the computer courses is one of the worse also. The old adage holds true If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
January 9th, 2010 at 3:58 am
When I called I just wanted the price because I didn’t have my card on me at the time. I was going to call back when I did. I called 4 times and could not get a price. I even threatened them and said that I will go to another company if I could not get the price. They still was determined to tell me they had different models. And wanted to ask me questions. I repeatedly said I want the price of the basic offer. I could not get the price from NO ONE!!! I understand they have a job to do. But when the customer asks what is the price, they should tell it. And then I google them and came across this. I see I am not the only one that had a bad time with customer service. I copied and paste this whole page to the customer service department and to an email address I got of here. LOL!!!
January 9th, 2010 at 7:05 pm
Oh my Gosh, what a nightmare this company is. I got confused in the ordering process and before I knew it, I had ordered the deluxe model. When I called customer service he refused to help me. They are still pulling money out of my bank account. First thing on Monday I will need to call my bank and stop the crooks.
Absolutely do not BUY LUMINESS AIR. They claim the product is toxic free, but every time I use I feel absolutely poisoned.
January 12th, 2010 at 12:34 am
I ordered. Mine through HSN not the actual company. I suggest you buy it there because you can return it for any reason (even buyer’s remorse) & its on flexpay
January 23rd, 2010 at 8:55 am
WOW. after reading all this im gettin scared.
I order Luminess air, about a month ago online, it came to me in like 4 days and i just had standard shipping, ( i guess its cuz i lie in texas and thats were their company is) I was soooo happy, i got it christmas eve morning. so i could wear it during christmas. I have to say i like it alot. it is expensive, and the shipping charge is way too much than what its suppose to be. I finish one of them bottles within a month, so it is pricey, on the video it said you only had to use 5-7 drops, BULL. Bottom line: i like it, makes me feel good and pretty, stays on all day. But it is WAY TOOOO EXPENSIVE!!

You can avoid all the Customer Service issues by ordering on HSN.com. If you do that you deal with HSN Customer Service and guarentees, etc. which are great! 30 day trial for 1st payment of $43, if you love it, keep it and pay balance over 3 months, if you don’t just return it to HSN.
February 8th, 2010 at 5:30 pm
So I bought the luminess tan and the first time it worked just fine. I went through 2 bottles and on my third the air brush stopped working. I have taken it apart and put it back together again and it still does not work. Does anyone have any suggestions?
February 11th, 2010 at 11:26 am
My experience with them is not a good one. I just called to cancel my membership. I bought the system 3 months ago under the 2 yr warranty. The stylus is no longer working and I wanted it to be replaced. They wanted me to pay for shipping + replacement cost of $20. I have spent so much on this make up system and auto shipment for the supplies. First of all, why would I have to pay for something that is already under the warranty. I don’t care about the $20, it’s the principle. Secondly, if they want to a customer over a $20 replacement fee, so be it. Roger, a customer service rep, said there will be a charge if you later wanted to rejoin again. How dare you!!!! I am done with Luminess Air…..
February 15th, 2010 at 12:27 am
OMG… I just saw their infomercial, and I came to log online and order immediately… so I go to google and do a search for Luminess Air.. Lo and behold!!! I found this thread.. you guys just save me a lot of money, hassle and disappointment. I will SO **NOT** be buying this item… not in a million years.
Thanks to all of your previous research. Good luck to you all ☺

I called customer service to ask what is the difference between Kelly system & beauty System….after a very long hold about 45 mins 1 rep came on line & informed me there is no difference what they are doing these days what ever airbrush system customer’s are returning back which is used by them those System they are selling in cheaper cost & most of the customer’s are getting used Airbrush. I guess rep is also frustrated with the company. she also informed me these days they were getting lots of call on which customer customer claims its a brand new system they received but airbrush is not working on this case we generally try to fix that problem because we know its a used airbrush which we clean & sell back to customer. Rep said luminess air customer Service is in INDIA where they have only 10-15 agents that is why when ever customer call they hear an echo sound & lots of voice from back ground..after listening all this I NEVER ORDERED LUMINESS AIR & PLZ BE CAREFULL EVERY ONE ITS A FRAUD COMPANY

If you were scammed by LuminessAir over shipping/handling charges and/or faulty products and non-existant customer service contact companies like HSN who deal with LuminessAir and voice your concerns as I have done. Hundreds of us have filed Texas BBB and attorney general comlaints about LuminessAir. I believe this company should be held accountable for dishonest practices and be forced to change or leave the country. I contacted HSN and they seem concerned about my complaint they are doing business with a disreputable company. If we all do the same once we find out who does business with LuminessAir and organizations like HSN won’t sell their products maybe they will leave the US or change and quit ripping people off.

To those who “love the product”…who cares! There is no product worth the amount of hassle that this companies dishonest practices have caused customers. It is the age old scam. An offer that is too good to be true, dishonest billing practices, sleazy customer service, Many companies have done it and many have been caught for it. I spoke to the local FBI branch where my brother works and they are on the radar already for “billing and mail fraud”. I am an attorney and I recommend canceling your credit card or putting a block on your bank account if they already have you in the trap. For money lost have an attorney send a letter demanding money returned and desisting billing. Hopefully you know someone who can do it for you without charging you money. Report your experiences to your local FBI business branch. The more reports (keep all your financial records and products and transcribe a report of all your phone calls with these people) the FBI gets the faster they crack down on the fraud. Its sad that companies these days have to resort to slimy business practice instead of just relying on their “great” product. They just want a shortcut to success rather than being required to make a product that pleases people and being required to provide good customer service (which is clearly more work that just pressing a button and stealing from your bank account). Always beware of “enrollment programs” and “clubs”. Once they get you they will make it impossible to cancel. That in itself is against the law. These executives rely on all of you to just give up. So don’t.

I ordered Luminess air after watching an infomercial, I tried the product I did not like the way it felt on my face. I called to request a refund so I had to get an RA number. The first number I called told me to go online to get the number. When I went online the website was under construction. I started to feel had by this company. I finally called a number and waited on hold for 22minutes before someone came to the phone. I told the representative I did not like the way the make felt and she insisted I try another foundation type. I just wanted my money back. She then told me I would only be receiving 182.00 back from the 230.00 I paid up front. She explained it was not a free trial. the 29.95 was non-refundable. I than still had to pay for the product to be shipped back to them. What a waste of my money. I recommend not getting this product. Rid yourself of receiving false information.

I ordered mine from hsn I ordered on the 3rd of may and got it on the 7th, and that is without express shipping. Hsn also has a payment plan and its cheaper then the lumin. website. Customer service is a lot better I hear also. I ordered online. So I would try Hsn. I have had problems in the past with companies charging my card. But so far so good with hsn.

Thank you for posting your honest comments on this site. I just finished watching this commercial and decided to check out the website. I have horrible skin and I presently use MAC but found this product (Luminess Air) looks great. Now I’ve changed my mind about ordering it online due to the many many negative comments posted above. I might go try it in Dilliards since this is the only store that seems to carry it (other than online) and then I’ll see if it really is worth buying. Thanks for sharing your horrible experiences. I hope something is done about this company and their customer service because some of these comments started from 2007 and its May 2010 and people are still posting bad comments which means that this company has managed to continue to dupe people for many years without anything being done. That is not right. I don’t live in the USA so I am not familiar with the laws but good luck Alex. I hope you get through. This is not a nice thing that is being done to innocent customers.

Hi you all! I just wanna say that I’m a costmetologist and I also ordered the kit. I love it and it has really helped my business. You don’t have to enroll for the monthly supply just cancel it and then you just have to reorder whenever you run out. I ended up paying a total amount of 300. It’s worth it for me since I have business. The machine works really good all you have to do is take care of it and clean it regularly. I do agree that their customer service could improve a lot and some of the reps are kinda rude. Over all I’m satisfied.

I have not tried to return it, but I ordered the system and paid the 200 and some bucks for it. I absolutely love it, and would never go back to other foundations! I also love their eyeshadows.

A very good product, I am completely satisfied. I was initially worried to read all of the issues in this blog but HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT MOST BLOGS ON THIS WEBSITE are people complaining and venting.

I grant that not all products work for everyone, or suit their preferences, but I personally have had a wonderful time with my system. I don’t know if everyone is bothering to watch the DVD (I usually don’t either), but in this case I did! A lot of complaints I see seem to be results of not following the instructions. The dry skin: me too, until I remembered that the make up is water-based, so my skin sucked all the water from the make up and left my skin dry. When I remembered to add a moisturizer first, that problem went away. I also forget to hold the stylus far enough away at times. that will cake it on, and leave a greasy area. You have to patiently hold it away from your skin and brush the layers on. I swear I never got so many positive comments on my make up until I started wearing it. Most of the reviews that I came across were old and about customer service, don’t be turned off by this great product because of those old reviews.

DO NOT ORDER THIS SYSTEM OR FROM THIS COMPANY. CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL BE A WASTED TIME OF YOUR LIFE. AND THE PRODUCT IS JUNK-BOTH THE SYSTEM AND THE MAKE-UP. I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO STAY AWAY.

So glad I read this on postive and neg views.. seems to me there should be an honest broker on these Trail items always it seems to be a scam to sign people up for..( CRAP) just once I would like to see a honest review instead of planted ones..
I have had same experience of trying to cancel after ordering.
Just call credit card company and place a hold on charges and be diligent about it..they never give you any place to cancel after you hit the button not even mins after ordering.. and heaven forbid you get the item.. and try to return it..
And customer service is there such a thing anymore…
Just stay away from the info commercials ladies..
And find a place where you can go and try the product before you buy!.seems to me if this was ligite they would hire people out of homes who could show the product just like Avon reps.. would be more honest trade..

I just wanted express my opinion about luminess air! I love my Luminess air! I use to wear expensive liquid foundation and a dual finish powder, it did feel heavy and cakey but I thought that it was a better alternative then people staring at my acne. one day i was walking around the mall and saw a makeup artist using it on a girl that had similar skin to mine. Skeptical that something so airy could cover up any acne, I waited to experience it for myself. As i sat in the chair and felt the cool air hit my skin (wow what a nice feeling for irritated skin) a few minutes later she said that she was done, Done? I looked in the mirror and I couldn’t believe that it covered my acne better then my thick and cakey foundation. I believe that has been the best purchase that I have ever made! I highly recommend this to anyone that has skin issues or is just plain sick of heavy coverage.. It really irritates me that all these complaints are on customer service issues and not the product I want to read about the actual product not customer service issues! I paid 199 for my system at a dillards. I don’t like to put things on payment plans. Maybe next time just save the money up before you buy it, i did!

well hello ladies,
my issue is that i tried to use my airbrushing system and it sprays continually w/o pulling the lever. it costs a pretty penny. does anyone have any suggestions on how to repair it. i dropped water in it to clear it of any product, however, there’s no change. i’m definitely nervous about removing the pin. thanks in advance for your suggestion(s). i just want to use my airbrush machine. :-/

Thank you all for the advice! I definitely will not be buying the product. As a personal banker, the only solution I can give regarding those nasty unauthorized charges at random times is to cancel your debit/credit card. The card number you provided to Luminess has nothing to do with your account number. When you call the bank, simply ask customer service to make the current card inactive due to fraud. Your account is not affected. You will still have the same account number, ability to write checks, etc. I see customers doing it all the time because they cannot get the company to stop. I understand it may be a hassle to be without a debit card for the 7-10 business days it takes to get a new debit card (which often requires a signature), but Luminess has no right to charge you like that. If you have already ordered and fear unauthorized charges, I would suggest doing this sooner rather than later. The company cannot punish you for taking this protective measure. They may send a letter notifying you of the inactive card and that you owe them money, but if you have been trying to stop the charges and cancel your membership to no avail, you have every right to take that step. Best of luck!
